Today I finished my equipment booking sheet including risk assessment for filming in both the Manchester Metropolitan University and Mr. Amang’s house in Hazel Grove, Stockport.

Also I had to check with the technician to find out about lighting, due to the big size of the Redhead Lights which its comes with the big box and it’s a hard to handle it with out car so I checked it with the technician if there is any small size of light to collect but after checking with the technician unfortunately there isn’t any small size then Redhead lights so I have to sort this problem and I contact Nyasha, and explained about the problem of handling the lights and Nyasha will help me to collect the equipment by bringing his car, so I booked equipment’s for Friday 8/02/13, and I will start filming my project from Saturday 9/02/13 in Stockport and also I will film interview with Mr. Amang about his studies at the Manchester Metropolitan University in Manchester Metropolitan university’s gallery from Monday 11/02/13.

However, today I tried to gain more knowledge about how to set up the lighting. So firstly I set up the lighting with gel and then I set up the camera and done white balance for it and I think I know what kind of format and setting I will use for my documentary, so I practiced on camera and lighting today, Rebecca were helping me to set up and also she acted as my guest and she sat on the chair while I was fixing the lights and camera.

As a part of my research I will contact Mr. Amang and will talk about the both location which I will film my project.

Also I will be meeting the Manchester Metropolitan University gallery to check the location of filming and also to get permission of filming, to get singed the filming consent form from some of the staff of management of the Manchester Metropolitan University gallery.

Also I need to make my Gantt chart ready for next week.

After finished college straight away I phoned Mr. Amang and I spoke to him about the project filming in Saturday, however, we both agreed to continue and start filming.

Also in my way home I visited the Manchester Metropolitan University for location check and also to get permission for film my interview with Mr. Amang in the University’s gallery. In addition I past the location release form for signature and I am waiting to get the result back from the University.

Diary

In today lesson we had final presentation for our project (Self-Directed Project).

However, each student had 15 minute to preparer and present their ideas.

My time was at 3.10pm to 3.25pm, however, I came to college early in the day to print and be ready for my presentation time and made sure not to be late and also be prepared fully.

Moreover, after organising my folder with all the research and documents which I researched about my subject, then at the time of my presentation I was ready and went to presenting room,

Furthermore, I start my presentation really well and without any stress, I think I pitched really well and I was really confident and relax during my presentation. Also I think I was well organised my folder which I had to handed in, was good prepared and organised. During my presentation tutor just asked 2 question about my project and I answered both question, the questions was how will I fill the genocide subject which I mentioned in my treatment about the artist work, however, my project will be totally different to the past work which the artist done but the discussion of the artist archive work which his more famous in is genocide about Kurdish people but this project will be totally different to the discussion. Also the second question was about how many event I filmed before in past because I mentioned in my pitch that I am confident and relax using Sony V1 camera. However, the answer I gave was to show my YouTube Channel link which all of the project I have done in past is uploaded onto my Channel including the artist exhibition which held in Huddersfield, March 2012.

In today lesson I have done my presentation for my self-direct project. However, the initial pitch day is Wednesday 12 December 2012, but due to the holiday I will go I had chance to do my presentation on 5/12/12. Moreover, I was told by tutor, to do my pitch front of head tutor Colin, and peter. So therefore, in the morning I papered for my presentation and I did my pitch for Colin and Peter, I think I done well during presenting my idea, and I was happy with what I done but I will be looking forward to hear from tutor about his point of view about my presentation.

In today lesson we were told in the morning by Ricardo that they (Peter & Ricardo) have swapped their class for one day and Peter was introducing himself to first year students and also Ricardo was in our class to hear our pitch ideas for our self directed project for documentary. However, firstly in the morning we started pitching our idea and the first person pitched was Danny Jack and then I decided to pitch my idea, but I didn’t had my power point pitch with me so I had to go through my treatment and summaries my pitch then after me Jack pitched his idea. Moreover, after Jack finished pitching Ricardo decided to show us some videos, which can help us to develop better documentary, and we watched the video called (I can), after watching the video we went to launch break, and then after launch break we watched more video. After video finished the rest of students pitched their idea one by one and until they all finished their pitches.

Overall, after all of students finished their pitches tutor decided to see us one by one for tutorial but due to the time he changed his mind and decided to have tutorial next week.

Today I went to a BVE North seminar in Manchester, it was my first time ever I involve in such as exhibition with so many amazing cameras and other broadcasting equipment such as tricaster, tripods and lights etc.

However, I check a lot of cameras from different makes such as Canon, Sony and ARRI and I found it really interesting. The ARRI cameras was first time ever I see in my life and I loved it. Also there was few more cameras which was really interesting, the camera call Nikon ‘G’ and PL lens mounts and the interesting and amazing thing about this camera was the 20.000 frame per second and the video they showed.

Moreover, as I looked around and saw more amazing broadcasting equipment such as wonderful Canon, Sony cameras and Gib on the tripod it made me to love my subject I am studying currently, and hopefully one day I will have chance to get them incredible kit to work with and make my own projects with it.

Furthermore, the thing was really interesting was the guy who making the Canon camera with ice, it was really interesting to watch how he done the remarkable work as you can see in below pictures.

Also I joint to the few seminars about cameras which was amazing and helpful about using camera and what kind of lens can be good to use with it, also the seminar about cinematographer who involved with few good films he filmed by himself and it was really good to watch them films which I found it prefect.

Overall, I think It was one of the best day for me which it was my first time ever to attend those kind of seminars / exhibition, and I am looking forward to attend more seminars like todays one and gain more experience about cameras, tricaster and etc.
